This would be an awsome combination

I am a Firefox user and like most Firefox users the reason's I use it are for the extensions and how I can customize my browsing experience. That being said I have one extension in particular which I really love some of you may have heard of it, it's called Piclens. If you've not checked into it and you use google image search on a fairly regular basis I would check it out. It's a fantastic way to browse the amount of images on the web. This wonderful extension adds a totally new and innovative way to browse site's such as Flickr, Photobucket, Picasa Web Albums, deviantART, Smugmug, Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, Friendster, Google Images, Yahoo Images, Ask Images, Live Images, and AOL Images.

I recently wrote to them asking them if they could make the extension compatible with Wincustomize.

Here's the email:

To whom it may concern,

I love piclens and I was just wanting to suggest that piclens be made compatible with the Wincustomize website. It would be a fantastic way to browse the thousands of skins and wallpapers they have there on that site and lot's of people use Wincustomize. Thanks so much for a great plugin.

Sincerely,
Angel

The reply which I recieved is as follows:

Hi Angel,

First off WE ARE SO SORRY if you have not already received an email that you had to wait this long to hear from us. We actually transferred over our contact email to feedback@piclens.com, and unfortunately some of our users' emails to us got lost in the shuffle. We apologize for this inconvenience!

We would love to be compatible with wincustomize! The process however is not one sided - they will have to work with us to make PicLens compatible. You could help us out in a big way in this initiative by spreading the word about us to your friends that use wincustomize, or if possible even contact the site and let them know you would be interested in using PicLens. The more users who are already asking for PicLens capability, the easier it is for us to convince sites to work with PicLens.

Let me know if this helped you, and if you have any other questions, I can answer them for you at feedback@piclens.com. And don't worry, you will hear back from me within 24 hours, max, I PROMISE!!!!!!!

Warm Regards,
Meg & The PIcLens Team

So if anyone else is interested in seeing this wonderful plugin made compatible with wincustomize, please let them know I think it would be a really fabulous way to browse the ton's of skins, wallpapers, blinds and what have you here on the site. I really think that it would be a great thing for wincustomize as well. Yet another way for them to offer users to access such a great website. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Angel

[EDIT]
P.S. You can also use piclense even if you don't use firefox. Check out the other versions HERE also you can see piclens in action HERE

Well after uninstalling and reinstalling it for IE7 a third time, and it still not working, I decided to go ahead and give in and install firefox finally .

Piclens is working fine in firefox and it looks pretty good.

Hmmm wonder why the issues with IE? very strange. Maybe some kind of conflict with another browser add-on or something, anyway I'm glad you were able to use it in firefox.

Could be. Not sure. But I'm kind of glad now. I hadnt tried firefox since a few years back when it was still all buggy. Now after using it just a couple hours I think IE7 will be taking a backseat.

Pages seem to be loading faster. I can open 15 tabs of forum threads at once without it freezing up. And especially for here browsing Wincustomize, I like how it opens the screenshots in a new tab not a new window and has them full size rather than needing to click them to zoom in.

Yeah Firefox has come a long way! Pretty much the only time IE is even opened is so I can test how web pages look when I'm working on my websites.

I really would like to see these two working together. I really don't like the feel of deviantART so I think it would be a much nicer combination with wincustomize.

Did you also send a copy of your post to anyone at Stardock?

Personally I dont think I would use it here too much just because I am used to the way I look through things here already, and I check the site on a daily basis.

I can see it being a good way for people, who don't check the site so often, to look through the libraries though.

We're aware of Piclens.  Winstar brought it to my attention early last week.  Super-cool stuff.  We'll have to look at it more closely to see if/how we can integrate it with WinCustomize.

That's cool. Very cool! Thanks for posting this, MHA. Works just fine here, running XP SP3 RC2 with IE7.
